I Chat With…

Pondering on some sort of through-line for my work as an adult I conclude that, in general, I’m simply excited by people. What they find significant, or stressful, or worthy of their time and passion. What makes their world smaller and, as a result of my speaking with them, my world bigger. This took me at one point all over Ireland, chatting with street performers. And in workshops, rehearsals and performances as an actor and playwright. As my work somewhat organically grew into being food-focused, I intentionally turned this intrigue onto those who make some of the most soul-filling food in the city I love so much.

I’ve been writing the We Chat With… column regularly for Serious Eats: NY  for almost a year now alongside my incredible photographer, Brent Herrig.  Check out my Serious Eats Author page for all the interviews and NYC events I’ve covered. Looking at the gallery below, I’m blown away by the past year I’ve had, and the people I was fortunate to sit at across a table.
